The Northern European crane, a migratory bird, chooses the environment of our vineyard to rest on its journey, from North in Scandinavia to the South in Northern Africa, twice a year, therefore the area is declared a ZEPA (Special Protection Area for Birds) area. The vineyard is surrounded by alfalfa and legume plantations specially destined to feed these birds. Every year, when the cranes arrive, at sunset, our vineyard becomes the scene of one of the most exciting natural spectacles that leaves no one indifferent …this is the inspiration for the name of our flagship wine, Grullas de Paso, “The Cranes That Pass.”
